Mr. Kanyago was educated at Nyeri High School, Strathmore College and Pacific States University.

He has a wide range of experience in business, having been the Chairman of Express Kenya Limited and currently the Chairman of East African Courier Limited (Fedex), East African Elevator Co. Limited (OTIS), and formerly a director at Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). He is also a member of the board of several companies including Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), East African Cables Limited, and a number of tea factories.

His corporate social responsibilities activities have included acting as the former Chairman of Rotary Club – Nairobi North and Karen Country Club. He is currently on the board of Governors for Gathera Secondary School and Chinga Boys High School. Mr. Kanyago is also a golfer.
